Get set for an evening of infectious music from the land of Bossa Nova, courtesy of the London Bossa Quartet!
At the cutting edge of Brazilian jazz, the London Bossa Quartet comprises top-class musicians dedicated to exploring an exquisite repertoire of classics by all-time master Brazilian composers such as João Donato, Tom Jobim, and Hermeto Pascoal, as well as performing their original material.
All exponents of the genre, this stellar quartet - formed in 2019 - has performed widely in the UK to sell-out audiences, always delivering a vibrant, virtuoso sound that takes listeners well beyond Bossa Nova.
LUIZ MORAIS
A unique voice in contemporary Brazilian jazz guitar and a virtuoso performer, as well as part of the line-up of LBQ, guitarist LuiZ is a member of Choro exponents Alvorado, and runs his own quintet and Brazilian Big Band.
Luiz continues to pursue an innovative and experimental rebirth of the Brazilian musical tradition in a wider landscape of jazz and World Music.
SAM WATTS
Pianist Sam's playing is both lyrical, focused and extremely creative. Specialising in Brazilian music and jazz, he's a member of the Brazilian jazz trio Djangada and New Orleans jazz group the Dime Notes, and has worked with many top-drawer performers, including Jean Toussaint, Jana Varga, Jason Marsalis, and Jo Harrop.
MATHEUS NOVA
Bassist Matheus brings a strong connection to Brazilian musical heritage. Specialising in Latin, jazz, and Afro-Brazilian music, he also performs with a diverse range of groups, including Antonio Forcione Quartet, and João Menezes Trio.
MARCHNO NOVA
A graduate of the Jazz and Caribbean Music programme at Brazil's Conservatory of Music, drummer Marchino has performed with numerous London-based musicians as well as artists in his own country, including Nydia Caro, Humberto Ramirez, Michel Brava.
